Producer and Import Price Index fell by 0.3% in February
Neuchâtel, 17.03.2026 — The Producer and Import Price Index fell in February 2026 by 0.3% compared with the previous month, reaching 99.5 points (December 2025 = 100). Pharmaceutical products and chemical products in particular saw lower prices. In contrast, petroleum products as well as petroleum and natural gas saw higher prices. Compared with February 2025, the price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products fell by 2.7%. These are the results of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
Petroleum products as well as petroleum and natural gas in particular were responsible for the increase in the Import Price Index compared with January 2026. Increasing prices were also seen for basic metals and semi-finished metal products, vegetables, melons and potatoes. In contrast, falling prices were recorded for rubber and plastic products, paper and paper products, pharmaceutical products and chemical products.
